Taxonomy
Geyerella ofunatoensis was named by Tazawa (2011). Its type specimen is NU-B1487 and is a mold. Its type locality is Maeda, Locality B, Ofunato City, Miyagi Prefecture, which is in a Changhsingian marine shale in Japan.
