Nothofagidites paucispinosus was named by Menendez and Caccavari (1975). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is BAPB. Prep. pal. N° 497, a non-seed repro (Pollen grain), and it is a 3D fossil preserving soft parts.

Colpos en número de 5 (6) 7 con una profundidad de 1.7 (2.29) 2.8 µ y un engrosamiento de 0.5 (0.53) 0.55 µ presenta una superficie débilmente granulada y con espinas poco visibles, con una densidad de 36.4 (48.6) en 100 µ².
