Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
E. Gheerbrant and H. Astibia 2012Zhelestid most closely related to Lainodon (L. orueetxebarriai) and Labes (L. garimondi and L. quintanillensis). Closer to Lainodon than to Labes in the mesially canted trigonid, the better developed postmetacristid, the shorter talonid, and the larger protoconid (e.g., with respect to trigonid lingual cusps). Significantly smaller than Lainodon orueetxebarriai and Labes garimondi. Differs additionally from Lainodon orueetxebarriai by the less developed bunodonty, a more elongated metaconid that is more deeply separated from the protoconid, and a weaker postmetacristid. The dP5/ shows no or weak metacingulum and postmetacrista, the latter being reduced to an inflated and short disto-labial metastylar crest which is separated from the metacone by a notch.
