Taxonomy
Lyriodon elegans was named by Dunker (1849). It is the type species of Elegantinia.

It was recombined as Myophoria elegans by Awad (1945); it was recombined as Myophoria (Elegantinia) elegans by Gu et al. (1976); it was recombined as Elegantinia elegans by Friesenbichler et al. (2019).
