Taxonomy
Ponera hendersoni was named by Cockerell (1906). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Florissant, Fossil Stump Hill, which is in a Chadronian lacustrine - large shale in the Florissant Formation of Colorado.
It was recombined as Euponera hendersoni by Cockerell (1927); it was recombined as Protazteca hendersoni by Carpenter (1930), Cockerell (1941) and Bolton (2012).
