Taxonomy
Strumigenys electrina was named by de Andrade (1994). Its type specimen is SMNS Do-4854-1, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Dominican amber (SMNS coll), which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian terrestrial amber in the Dominican Republic.
