Taxonomy
Bombus jurinei was named by Heer (1864). Its type specimen is 682a, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Oeningen (Zurich collection), which is in a Sarmatian crater lake limestone in the Upper Freshwater-Molasse Formation of Germany.
It was recombined as Xylocopa jurinei by Cockerell (1909) and Zeuner and Manning (1976).
