Palaeoheteroptera carinata
Taxonomy
Palaeoheteroptera carinata was named by Meunier (1900) [Meunier created two genus names for different specimens of Oppenheim's Naucoris carinata. Palaeonepidoideus carinatus is treated as a valid combination (e.g., by Handlirsch) but Palaeoheteroptera carinata sensu Meunier is considered a subjective synonym of P. lapideus. Based on ICZN article 11.10 ("deliberate employment of misidentification"), Meunier should be considered the author of Palaeoheteroptera carinata because it is the type species (by monotypy).]. It is an impression. Its type locality is Solnhofen (BSPGM Munich coll), which is in a Tithonian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal lime mudstone in the Solnhofen Formation of Germany.
It was synonymized subjectively with Palaeoheteroptera lapidaria by Handlirsch (1906).
It was synonymized subjectively with Palaeoheteroptera lapidaria by Handlirsch (1906).
