Taxonomy
Camponotus constrictus was named by Mayr (1868). Its type specimen is Konigsberg 3719/67, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber.

It was recombined as Formica constricta by Wheeler (1915); it was recombined as Cataglyphis constrictus by Dlussky (1967) and Spahr (1987); it was recombined as Cataglyphoides constrictus by Dlussky (2008); it was recombined as Cataglyphoides constricta by Wehner et al. (2020).
