Taxonomy
Ceratodus planasper was named by Linck (1962). Its type specimen is SMNS 19713, a tooth (Tooth plate), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Künzelsau, which is in a Ladinian terrestrial horizon in the Meissner Formation of Germany.
