Leptotrypella (Pycnobasis) was named by Boardman (1960) [Sepkoski's age data: D Eife D Fras Sepkoski's reference number: 1034]. It is not extant. Its type is Leptotrypella (Pycnobasis) amphelicta.

It was reranked as Pycnobasis by Sepkoski (2002).

It was assigned to Leptotrypella by Boardman (1960); and to Stenolaemata by Sepkoski (2002).
