Sphaeroidinellopsis was named by Banner and Blow (1959) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-l-u T Plio-l]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Globigerinidae by Snyder et al. (1983) and Gibson (1983); and to Foraminiferida by Sepkoski (2002).
