Taxonomy
Pachycondyla tristis was named by Dlussky (2009). Its type specimen is MKC 27.131, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Bitterfeld amber (Kutscher Gottingen collection), which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in Germany.
