Taxonomy
Plagiolepis kunowi was named by Mayr (1868). Its type specimen is Konigsberg 3760/108, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Baltic amber, Konigsberg collection, which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in the Russian Federation.
