Taxonomy
Macromischa prisca was named by André (1895). It is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Baltic amber (Pouillon coll), which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in the Russian Federation.

It was recombined as Vollenhovia prisca by Wheeler (1915) and Spahr (1987).
