Amphiblestrum was named by Gray (1848) [Sepkoski's age data: K Ceno R Sepkoski's reference number: 1260]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Membraniporidae by Ulrich and Bassler (1904); to Alderinidae by Canu and Bassler (1935); to Membraniporidae by Brown (1952); to Cheilostomata by Sepkoski (2002); and to Calloporidae by Schmidt (2003), Berning (2006), Bock (2006) and Gordon and Taylor (2015).
