Taxonomy
Ummidia was named by Thorell (1875). It is extant. It is the type genus of Ummidiinae.

It was assigned to Ctenizidae by Dunlop et al. (2013) and Wheeler et al. (2017); and to Ummidiinae by Godwin et al. (2018).
