Calpidopora was named by Lang (1916) [Sepkoski's age data: K Ceno-u Sepkoski's reference number: 626]. It is the type genus of Calpidoporidae.
It was assigned to Calpidoporidae by Canu and Bassler (1927) and Bassler (1953); to Cribrilinidae by Gordon (2001); and to Cheilostomata by Sepkoski (2002).
