Mesotermes heros
Taxonomy
Termes heros was named by Hagen (1862). It is an impression. Its type locality is Solnhofen (MCZ coll), which is in a Tithonian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal lime mudstone in the Solnhofen Formation of Germany. It is the type species of Mesotermes.
It was recombined as Mesotermes heros by Haase (1890), Handlirsch (1906), Carpenter (1932) and Nel and Henrotay (1994).
