Discoporella was named by d'Orbigny (1852) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-l-l R]. It is extant. Its type is Lunulites umbellata.

It was assigned to Calpensiidae by Bassler (1953) and Wienrich (1999); to Cheilostomata by Sepkoski (2002); and to Cupuladriidae by Scolaro (1970) and Guha (2013).
