Taxonomy
Squaloraja tenuispina was named by Woodward (1886). Its type specimen is BMNH P.2081 (rostral spine) and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Lyme Regis, Egerton collection, which is in a Sinemurian marine horizon in the United Kingdom.
