Taxonomy
Fulgoridium simplex was named by Geinitz (1880). It is an impression. Its type locality is Dobbertin, Mecklenburg (Greifswald collection), which is in a Toarcian offshore claystone in Germany. It is the type species of Parafulgoridium.
It was recombined as Phryganidium balticum simplex by Geinitz (1880); it was recombined as Parafulgoridium simplex by Handlirsch (1939) and Szwedo et al. (2004).
