Spiroporina was named by Stoliczka (1865) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1260]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Schizoporellidae by Brown (1952); to Gigantoporidae by Canu and Bassler (1935) and Bassler (1953); to Spiroporinidae by Cheetham (1972); and to Cyclostomata by Sepkoski (2002).
