Cissus willardi was named by Berry (1929) [Seeds sub-globular, inflated; broadly and asymmetrically rounded distad, abruptly stipitate pointed proximad, slightly flattened toward the base on the furrowed side; with a narrow raphe, and short prominent slightly curved furrows. Form ovate in all profiles. Length 4.5 to 5.5 millimeters; maximum width 3 to 3.5 millimeters; maximum thickness 2.75 to 3.25 millimeters. Surface crustaceous, smooth. Hilum not prominent.]. It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Belen, Punta PariƱas, which is in a Miocene/Oligocene terrestrial horizon in Peru.
