Malvacarpus octoloculus was named by Berry (1929). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Belen, Punta PariƱas, which is in a Miocene/Oligocene terrestrial horizon in Peru.

E. W. Berry 1929It consists of eight, smoothly rounded, fusiform, inflated carpels. The distal pole is marked with the scars of the flower parts, as shown in the enlarged sketch- a larger central scar, and eight small scars opposite the tips of the carpels.
