Cucurbites compressus was named by Berry (1929). It is not extant. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type locality is Belen, Punta PariƱas, which is in a Miocene/Oligocene terrestrial horizon in Peru.

E. W. Berry 1929 | The present seed is obovate in outline, greatly compressed, asymmetrically pointed proximad, and rather evenly rounded distad. The hilum at the pointed end is narrowly elliptical in outline. The edges of the seed are rather sharp all around, but there is a faint marginal border, especially toward the base, differing in texture from the flat faces. Length 10 millimeters; maximum width 4.75 millimeters; maximum thickness 1.75 millimeters. |
