Heteroconopeum was named by Voigt (1983) [Sepkoski's age data: K Ceno-u K Camp-u]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Electridae by Taylor and Zaborski (2002); to Cheilostomata by Sepkoski (2002); and to Chiplonkarinidae by Taylor and Gordon (2007) and Martha and Taylor (2017).
