Taxonomy
Hincksina was named by Norman (1903) [Sepkoski's age data: K Camp R Sepkoski's reference number: 2]. It is extant. It is the type genus of Hincksinidae.

It was assigned to Hincksinidae by Canu and Bassler (1935), Bassler (1953), Brown (1958), Cheetham (1962) and Pouyet (2000); to Cheilostomata by Sepkoski (2002); and to Flustridae by Berning (2006) and Bock (2006).
