Procolobostema roseni was named by Amorim (1998). Its type specimen is AMNH DR-10-956, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Dominican amber (AMNH coll), which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian terrestrial amber in the Dominican Republic.
