Myriapora was named by de Blainville (1830) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-l R Sepkoski's reference number: 639]. It is extant. It is the type genus of Myriaporidae.
It was assigned to Hippoporinidae by Brown (1958); to Cheilostomata by Sepkoski (2002); and to Myriaporidae by Pouyet (2000), Berning (2006) and Bock (2006).
