It was assigned to Plesiosauria by Benson et al. (2012) and Benson and Druckenmiller (2014); to Pliosauroidea by Persson (1963), Kuhn (1966), O'Keefe (2001), Ketchum and Benson (2010), Ketchum and Benson (2011) and O'Gorman (2016); and to Plesiosauria by Smith (2015) and Smith and Araújo (2017).
