Smittina (Reussia) was named by Neviani (1895) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-u T Mi-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1260]. It is extant.

It was reranked as Reussia by Sepkoski (2002), Sepkoski (2002) and Bock (2006); it was synonymized subjectively with Etyus by Schweitzer et al. (2012).

It was assigned to Smittina by Neviani (1895) and Bassler (1953); to Cheilostomata by Sepkoski (2002) and Sepkoski (2002); and to Bryocryptellidae by Bock (2006).
