Cancer paulinowuertembergensis was named by von Meyer (1851). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kis-Sväbhegy, which is in a Lutetian marine limestone in Hungary.
It was recombined as Lobocarcinus paulinowurtembergensis by Lörenthey (1898) and Anderson and Feldmann (1995).
