Culicoides ambericus
Taxonomy
Culicoides (Oecacta) ambericus was named by Szadziewski and Grogan (1998). Its type specimen is USNM 2905, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Dominican amber (USNM Brodzinsky Lopez-Pena coll), which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian terrestrial amber in the Dominican Republic.
It was recombined as Culicoides ambericus by Borkent (2013), Szadziewski (2018) and Borkent and Dominiak (2020).
