Taxonomy

Pronothrotherium mirabilis was named by Kraglievich (1925).

Synonyms

Pronothrotherium figueirasi was named by Perea (1988). Its type specimen is FHC-DPV-270, a mandible (left mandibular ramus), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Arazati km 95.750, which is in a Pliocene/Pleistocene terrestrial siltstone in the Raigón Formation of Uruguay.

It was synonymized subjectively with Pronothrotherium mirabilis by Gaudin et al. (2020).
