Tinomiscoidea was named by Reid and Chandler (1933). It is not extant. Its type is Tinomiscoidea scaphiformis.

It was assigned to Fibraureae by Chandler (1961); and to Menispermaceae by Reid and Chandler (1933) and Andrews (1970).
