Taxonomy
Lingulellotreta was named by Koneva (1983) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Boto-l Cm Tojo Sepkoski's reference number: 881,1066]. It is the type genus of Lingulellotretidae.

It was assigned to Lingulellotretidae by Holmer et al. (1997) and Williams et al. (2000); and to Lingulida by Sepkoski (2002).

Holmer et al. 1997Lingulellotretids with shell elongate oval to subtriangular, posteriorly acuminate; pseudointerareas of both valves with well-developed flexure lines; ventral pseudointer area orthocline; dorsal pseudointerarea with wide, concave median groove and short propareas; visceral areas of both valves not thickened; ventral visceral area extends to midvalve; dorsal visceral area with median tongue that extends somewhat anterior to midvalve.
