Plectoglossa was named by Cooper (1956). It is not extant. Its type is Plectoglossa oklahomensis.
It was assigned to Glossellinae by Mitchell (1977) and Williams et al. (2000); to Lingulida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Obolidae by Zhan and Jin (2005).
