Asiraca was named by Latreille (1796). It is extant. It is the type genus of Asiracinae, Asiracini.

It was assigned to Coleoptera by Latreille (1796); to Cicadellae by Latreille (1802); to Fulgoroidea by Giebel (1856); and to Asiracini by Urban et al. (2010).
