Taxonomy
Lapampasaurus cholinoi was named by Coria et al. (2012). Its type specimen is MPHN-Pv-01, a set of postcrania, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Islas Malvinas, which is in a Campanian/Maastrichtian fluvial sandstone in the Allen Formation of Argentina.

Coria et al. 2012Hadrosaurid dinosaur characterized by the following combination of characters: anterior cervical vertebrae with lateral foramina placed on the dorsal side of the diapophyses, scapula with deltoid crest with sharp lateral edge and convex dorsal surface, pedal ungual phalanx longer than wide with superficial grooves and foramina, and shallow longitudinal ventral ridge.
