Simolestes indicus

Taxonomy
Plesiosaurus indicus was named by Lydekker (1877). Its type specimen is SPecimen in the Indian Museum of Calcutta (cast BMNH R.1401), a mandible (symphysial portion of a mandible), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bururia, Kutch, which is in a Tithonian marine horizon in the Umia Formation of India.

It was recombined as Thaumatosaurus indicus by Lydekker (1889) and Swinton (1934); it was recombined as Simolestes indicus by Bardet et al. (1991).
