Taxonomy
Ammonites (Ceratites) aon was named by Munster (1834). It is the type species of Trachyceras.

It was recombined as Ammonites aon by Münster (1841); it was recombined as Trachyceras aon by Spath (1951) and Mietto and Manfrin (2008).
