Chrysomelites simplex was named by Frič (1901). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Kounic, which is in a Cenomanian terrestrial shale in the Peruc-Korycany Formation of the Czech Republic.
It was recombined as Chrysomelidium simplex by Handlirsch (1907).
