misidentified as Orthis (Schizophoria) impressa in Calvin 1897:167 according to Stigall Rode 2005 (p. 150).
Taxonomy
Orthis iowensis was named by Hall (1858) [Type designated from Hall's type series A by Stigall-Rode (2005:151).]. Its type specimen is AMNH 32506, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Orthis (Schizophoria) iowensis by Hall and Clarke (1892); it was recombined as Schizophoria iowaensis by Fenton and Fenton (1924); it was recombined as Schizophoria iowensis by Stainbrook (1940) and Cooper and Dutro (1982); it was recombined as Schizophoria (Schizophoria) iowensis by Stigall Rode (2005).
