Taxonomy
Trachyceras subasperum was named by Meek (1877) [Trachyceras judicarium var. subasperum]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cottonwood Canon, West Humboldt Range, which is in an Illyrian/Fassanian carbonate limestone in Nevada.
It was recombined as Trachyceras (Protrachyceras) subasperum by Smith (1914); it was recombined as Eoprotrachyceras subasperum by Tozer (1980).
