Taxonomy
Trachyceras (Protrachyceras) lahontanum was named by Smith (1914). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Divide between Troy Canyon and South Fork of American Canyon (subasperum), which is in a Fassanian marine limestone in Nevada.
It was recombined as Eoprotrachyceras lahontanum by Tozer (1980).
