Taxonomy
Gymnites tregorum was named by Silberling and Nichols (1982). Its type specimen is USNM 248915 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS M2358, spur between Star and Bloody Canyons, which is in an Aegean marine limestone/siltstone in the Prida Formation of Nevada.
