Schizocrania was named by Hall and Whitfield (1875) [Sepkoski's age data: O Llvi-l D Gedi Sepkoski's reference number: 1,5,1066]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Trematidae by Williams et al. (2000); and to Acrotretida by Sepkoski (2002).
