Taxonomy
Mickwitzia was named by Schmidt (1888) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Tomm-u Cm Tojo Sepkoski's reference number: 22]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Mickwitziidae.

It was assigned to Paterinida by Bengtson (1992) and Sepkoski (2002); and to Mickwitziidae by Devaere et al. (2015).
