Taxonomy
Oryctochlus affinis was named by Kalugina (1985). Its type specimen is PIN 3053/903, an exoskeleton (male fly), and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Uda River (PIN collection 3053), which is in an Oxfordian/Kimmeridgian terrestrial horizon in the Uda Formation of the Russian Federation.
